White Mice – Try A Thing (Basic Replay)

If the interest generated by those early Eek-a-mouse singles was anything to go by, re-issuing lost classics in a set of four seems to be a surefire method of creating a buzz. Now another mouse-monikered singer is attempting to pull off the same coup.

Of course it helps if the tunes in question are of a high standard, and the four Basic Channel re-issues (available separately or in a box-set) will not attract many complaints. This is the strongest of the four, featuring a strong chromatic guitar phrase at its centre overlaid by White Mice’ highly distinctive voice with lashings of reverb and delay.

With all but the wealthiest collectors dropping out of the original singles market like flies, these represses are a welcome relief to your wallet.

Further proof (for those who need it) that top quality reggae has been created at every point in its history since its inception: you just have to know where to look.
